Gratitude for "The Impossible Task of Today"

Where to even begin this post of gratitude for “The Impossible Task of Today”….

Thank you, Jeff, for this story. Thank you, Matt, for trusting me with the Dark. I watched audiences cry, gasp, hold each other, sit in stunned silence as they spent 95 minutes in Jack’s grief. I am so honored to have been part of both the creative team and the cast that put this nearly-impossible task on the stage. Thank you both for your vision, direction, collaboration that helped me hold the nuances of protection.

Matt Corey and Chelsea Tuffy- thank you for being such amazing artists who made the Dark so much more with your sound and costume designs. You work brought so much more to mine and I am grateful.

George- one of my favorite onstage moments is when the Dark walks between Jack and Val and the lights go to red one by one as it passes by. A thrill every night to watch that tech transform the story.

Grace- thank you for being such a professional and caring ID, creating beautiful moments, and giving me this opportunity to take a different role.

Rose and Tim- it was so fun to get to be with you as an actor. Your support and professionalism are unmatched.

And the cast. Wow. Iain, Vaishnavi, Kaelyn, and Anthony, I am so, so grateful for your friendship, your fun, your absolutely every night stunning performances that I got to witness. You are all incredible actors and humans and brilliant, vulnerable performers. I could not be more humbled than by sharing the stage with you all.

Iain, special thanks for your collaboration. It was so fun to move and create with you.

And the entire TheatreLab team- Thank you for the amazing work you do. I always love playing with you.

Talking about Choreography

I have an interview up with VoyageMIA talking about choreography. It’s one of the “Hidden Gems” on their website.

All the Folks that Need to Share my Silver Palm- Part 2

It is such a lovely honor to receive a Silver Palm, because it come from my colleagues! Congratulations to everyone making art in South Florida (it is not the easiest sometimes….), and especially to the other honorees listed here!

But I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the folks involved in these productions I am being honored for. My work only works when it supports the story and the actors can confidently embody it.

SAG Registry Status

I recently achieved SAG-AGTRA pre-registry status as an Intimacy Coordinator.

What does this mean?

Pretty much nothing. I will continue to do the work I get in Florida, with the occasional travel offers. My rates aren’t changing. I’m not moving. I’m just on a website.

I have some real issues with the registry, as I think it is incredibly inequitable for folks who live in small markets, and has the potential to create more inequality in terms of access and income, if the program stays as it is. I’ve spoken to several folks at SAG, several times, about ways I would like to see this program change to become more equitable and sustainable. But for now, we are where we are.

And much as I wanted to be certified as a way to honor myself for the time and money spent on training, I want to be on this list as a way to honor myself for the work I put, not just on training, but on making connections, doing a good job, and creating a reputation I am proud of.

So, both things are true. I am very glad to be on the Intimacy Coordinator pre-registry for SAG-AFTRA, and I wish the program was better.

End of Year Accolades

Jagged Mind, now streaming on Hulu, has one of Decider’s “10 Hottest Movie Sex Scenes in 2023”! Read what they said here.

While I am super excited to have my work noticed and celebrated (not to mention the work of the director and actors), I was really disappointed to see that not only did this piece not mention a single intimacy coordinator to credit their work, but, it didn’t even mention the fact that the role of intimacy coordinator exists. We still have a long ways to go…..

2 Great Reviews for Jagged Mind

There’s always going to be good and bad reviews. And I feel like with magical/sci-fi/horror blends, you are really going to get strong opinions on what worked and didn’t.

But here’s the link to two reviews of Jagged Mind, now available on Hulu, that let you know- the simulated sex worked!

God Forbid Wins Miami New Times Best of Award

Every year the Miami New Times gives out “Best of Miami” awards. Last year when these were announced, I was actually on the set of God Forbid, with Bill Corben and the Rakontur team when they won, in this category, for Cocaine Cowboys.

This year, God Forbid is taking home Best Miami Documentary! Were there lots of contenders? No idea. But, without a doubt, I know this one is the best.

I am very proud to have been the Intimacy Coordinator for the reenactments for this doc. Haven’t seen it yet? It’s on Hulu (and is still their most-watched doc!).
