Sexy, provocative, and witty, Venus in Fur turns up the heat on sexual power play and is sure to charm and mesmerize. When Vanda arrives several hours late to her audition for a play based on a nineteenth-century erotic novel, the director is less than impressed. Vanda’s masterful performance, however, flips the script and the audition turns into a tango for dominance between actress and director. At Florida Rep.

A World Premiere at TheatreLab.
J and C are bored small town American teenage girls who go on the run to find the ‘real’ America and themselves. They procrastinate and fantasize about the best way to run away from home, debate the fundamentals of feminism and what to do once they’ve left home and hit the road. On the open road, reality and fantasy blur. They rob banks, make bombs and discuss sexual, class and gender politics. They meet Brian, an enigmatic bartender, leading to a conclusion where they might fall in love, might commit acts of terror, might kill people, or might just breathe in the night air and decide to go home.
A hit from TheatreLab’s 2022 New Play Festival, this is the story of two 16-year old girls on a modern day “Thelma & Louise”-style adventure. This funny, moving, and fast-paced script by a local playwright toys with time, space, and reality while speaking to the difficulties and dangers of being a young woman in America today.

“Boundaries” is a term that gets thrown around a lot. But what, exactly, IS a boundary? And how can you best communicate yours?
Actors, singers, and dancers are all called upon to enter rehearsals and performances vulnerable and open. Sometimes we play roles of people who do terrible things, or explore themes that can activate previous traumas or negative experiences. And, we all have different needs and expectations when we go to work!
Boundary practices can support performers in all genres in separating “the work” from “the artist”. In this 1.5 hour workshop we will use lecture, personal reflection, interactive exercises, and group discussions to define boundaries and practice communicating them professionally. We will also explore accountability and communication when things go wrong. Each participant will leave with tools and resources to enter the next performance process with clarity and confidence.
While this workshop is meant for performers, teachers of performance may also benefit from these tools to help students think through boundaries and closure.
As part of the Totentanz project with Momentum Stage we will be presenting AI and dance as part of the new exhibit at Box Gallery.
