For the first time in a LONG TIME, I am back onstage! I’m served as the choreographer for this production, as well as playing The Dark.
Five years removed from tragedy, Jack, an agoraphobic online teacher has perfected his video game playing skills but severely neglected his hygiene, mental health, and dwindling number of personal relationships. When the grocery delivery guy is one of your best friends, something's got to give, and with the arrival of a home gym, everything will change. Jack truly believes it...even if no one else does.
Theatre Lab closes their 24-25 season with this stunning world premiere - another hit from their 2022 New Play Festival. The script uses humor and hope to explore issues of gun violence, mental health, and the dangers of social media - all the while reminding us that the only way to move through difficult times is together.

Thinking Cap Theatre presents the regional premiere of ALL THE NATALIE PORTMANS, a bold, funny, and moving coming-of-age play by C.A. Johnson. Johnson’s important new work examines an African American family in crisis, struggling to survive in the face of alcoholism and structural racism while also grappling with conflicting views on homosexuality. Told from the perspective of the central character, 16-year-old Keyonna, who escapes into a world of Natalie Portman rom-coms when challenges arise, this eye-opening play delivers a timely message about (self)acceptance and empathy.

A World Premiere at TheatreLab.
J and C are bored small town American teenage girls who go on the run to find the ‘real’ America and themselves. They procrastinate and fantasize about the best way to run away from home, debate the fundamentals of feminism and what to do once they’ve left home and hit the road. On the open road, reality and fantasy blur. They rob banks, make bombs and discuss sexual, class and gender politics. They meet Brian, an enigmatic bartender, leading to a conclusion where they might fall in love, might commit acts of terror, might kill people, or might just breathe in the night air and decide to go home.
A hit from TheatreLab’s 2022 New Play Festival, this is the story of two 16-year old girls on a modern day “Thelma & Louise”-style adventure. This funny, moving, and fast-paced script by a local playwright toys with time, space, and reality while speaking to the difficulties and dangers of being a young woman in America today.

Carmen Rivera's La Gringa is a poignant comedy about a young woman’s search for identity. Maria Elena Garcia visits her family in Puerto Rico during the Christmas holidays and plans to connect with her homeland. Although this is her first trip to Puerto Rico, she has an intense love for the island. She even majored in Puerto Rican studies in college. Once Maria is in Puerto Rico, she realizes that Puerto Rico does not welcome her with open arms. The majority of Puerto Ricans on the island consider her an American — a gringa — and Maria considers this a betrayal. If she’s a Puerto Rican in the United States and an American in Puerto Rico, Maria concludes that she is nobody everywhere. Her uncle, Manolo, teaches her that identity isn’t based on superficial and external definitions, but is an essence she has had all along in her heart.
City Theatre's production is presented in English with Spanish supertitles.
La Gringa is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French Inc.
