Movement Director of "God's Lonely Man"

Last October, I got a call that both stunned and thrilled me.

I’ve been wanting to work on music videos for a few years now, but haven’t been able to get in. But then, Anna Calvi, incredible performer, composer, musician, was looking for a movement director in Miami. Not only did she need a movement director, she needed one who was confident with the story-telling and theatricality of touch.

I am often told that I am, as an artist, simultaneously too much and not enough: too much intimacy, not enough dance; too much dance, not enough film; too much story, not enough choreo; too much choreo, not enough story. I’ve heard them all and wondered how they could all be true. And all be reasons someone didn’t hire me.

Turns out, for the right people, I’m just right. And if Anna Calvi and Iggy Pop are my people, that’s more than OK with me.

I also want to truly thank Anna, who credited her whole team. In the credits on YouTube and in the credits of the video itself. That kind of collaborative kindness is rare, and appreciated.

Thoughts on the world in 2026.

Bodies are subject to regimes. To systems and structures. Bodies are the basis of marginalization and othering.

Consent-forward and trauma-informed work often require breaking with the status quo and unlearning traditions and systems of power.

Learning how to have and hold boundaries, how to say “no”, and how systems contribute to our trauma and psychological state is political work.

I do think intimacy direction and intimacy coordination are really important jobs to be doing right now. Especially for queer stories.

Consent work is political work so doing the work means making time do things call your senators. If we advocate for others’ safety in the room, we need to advocate for their safety to be in the room in the first place, to exist. And if you can’t do that, maybe you shouldn’t do this job.

2026 will be full (hopefully) of pieces about my book, so stay tuned for more links!

Mental Health and Theatre

Nicole was interviewed, with colleagues Ann James and Molly Schenck, as well as frequent actor-collaborator and friend Niki Fridh for an Equity News Magazine feature on mental health in theatre, and how boundary and closure practices can contribute.

Sharing my Gratitude with at the Acknowledgement from "Care-full Creativity in Theatre and Dance Education"

Since this is a time for gratitude (and since my book FINALLY has official pre-order [Jan 2, 2026] and publication [Jan 23, 2026] dates!), it seems like a great time to share the acknowledgements for "Care-full Creativity in Theatre and Dance Education: Consent-forward, Trauma-informed, Psychologically Safe Movement Pedagogy". This book exists because of these folks (and so many more that I need to apologize for not mentioning here).
