All the Folks that Need to Share my Silver Palm- Part 2

  • XOXOLOLA, LakehouseRanchDotPNG

This tiny space was intimate all on its own! But Noelle’s commitment radiated through the movement and made us all cheer for both sides of Lauren/Lola. Thanks to Brandon and Ali for bringing me on board, and to Sam for always bringing your creativity and curiosity to work!

  • Love! Valour! Compassion!, Island City Stage

These men. What can I say about all of these men?!?! I love them. Michael Leeds, I was SO NERVOUS about working with you (and Michael will tell you [and has publicly, lol] he wasn’t sure about working with me either)! And you gave me so much space to play and create- AND THEN INVITED ME BACK FOR MORE! And you made this play, from a very specific place and time feel very present.

Robert gets a special note, because he learned an entire 1 minute modern dance solo! That, frankly, should get an award on it’s own, because he does not consider himself as a dancer.

And if that wasn’t enough, the whole darn company (minus 1) learned a classical ballet variation (adapted for our needs, of course, but still very recognizably the classical ballet variation)! And ended the show nude.

And of course that wasn’t the only intimacy or nudity. This was a massive show for the actors and they all deserve awards for their authentic work.

Christopher and Bruce made me cry. And Christopher made me cry with laughter.

Michael and Dean deserve one for making a sprawling estate fit our stage.

  • La Gringa, City Theatre

It’s me. I was “la gringa” on this production. And I am so grateful Gladys trusted me with this story.

  • Which Way to the Stage, Island City Stage

This was when Michael Leeds asked me to come back and made Island City Stage a frequent collaborator.

  • Plaza Suite, Maltz Jupiter Theatre

It’s always fun to play at the Maltz and this one was no exception. Kathy and Jim got to develop some fun, flirty, over the top choreography.

  • The Cancellation of Lauren Fein, Palm Beach Dramaworks

This was my first time at this iconic South Florida Theatre, and I am so grateful to Margaret Ledford and Niki Fridh for advocating for themselves by asking for me on the team.

This was honestly one of THE most COMPLEX pieces of intimacy- even though there is no nudity or simulated sex. The timing, the walking backwards, the position that had to tell 3 different stories depending on how you viewed it- phew! Niki Fridh and Kaylin Morales were incredible in its execution, and with Margaret’s direction along with Anne Mundell’s set and Kirk Bookman’s lighting, it might be the most beautiful, terrible moment ever.

  • The Dyke and the Porn Star, Women of Wilton

This one was a first in many ways

    • First collaboration with Nicole Stodard

    • First production at the Foundry

    • First collaboration with Sandi Stock and Erynn Dalton

    • First time I’ve hired a dominatrix to come teach us all how to safely whip each other

  • Dickery Pokery, Summer Shorts, City Theatre

Summer Shorts is the best way to kick off the summer. This one was a silly challenge in masking, and paid off beautifully in audience’s groans and laughs.

City Theatre is now a frequent and consistent collaborator. Getting to play with Alex Alvarez is ALWAYS a joy. And getting to work with Kim, who I knew as a student, but now as professional collaborator was a treat.

This was my first collaboration with Karina Batchelor-Gomez, and we might be BFFs now. And an unstoppable duo in South Florida Theatre (see below).

  • Have You Seen Boomer, LakehouseRanchDotPDF

I have never gotten so many reviews of my work as I did on this play. And, hysterically, the actors never touched. Really. It’s written in the script that they can’t. These awkward, but pivotal moments were challenging and fulfilling to create.

That I got to do so with Karina, and at the invitation of Brandon, was extra nice. And Richard and Bianca, you made me look good with your commitment and clarity!
