Notation for Movement Specialists

3:00 PM15:00

Notation for Movement Specialists

Part of the Women’s Theatre Festival Con!

The ease of video recording has meant that documenting dance and/or blocking has taken a technological turn. However, for prompt books and nuance, a written record may be able to record the intent and priorities of the creator in addition to movement. This workshop is an introduction to using Laban Motif Writing and Notation to document movement onstage–great for directors, choreographers, fight/intimacy choreographers, and stage managers!

NOTE: This is a ticketed event. Please visit our Eventbrite to purchase a ticket.
This session will begin at 3:00 pm ET on Tuesday, July 28th, 2020.
Its link to join will only be visible to those registered and signed in to their Sched account.

Laban in Performance

Part of the Women’s Theatre Festival Con.

Many actors are familiar with the 8 Effort Actions of Laban (punch, float, slash, glide, dab, wring, flick, press), but truly understanding the psychological interpretations that correlate with the movement can bring another level of depth to your character work. By understanding correlating Jungian psychological factors, participants will learn to express how their characters invest mental and/or physical energy.

This session will begin at 11:00 am ET on Tuesday, July 21st, 2020.
